Getting too excited about the new vinyl…
I know my brother has spent too long doing refurbs when he’s getting way too excited about the new vinyl selection for our rental properties…
If anyone has spoken to Chris, you’ll know he lives and breathes property.
His attitude is something similar to the “Kaizen” approach of continuous improvement by small changes. Many Japanese companies do this, like Nissan in Sunderland, and it’s been adopted famously by Team Sky / Ineos at the Tour de France. Continual incremental improvements / marginal gains when added together become quite significant.
We don’t tend to adopt the latest fancy idea since renting is a simple process (that’s why we all love it) and it involves the relationship between you, the tenant and the property. None of this has been rediscovered in the last 10 years but how you, for instance, collect the rent, vet the tenant, refurb the property and maximise your income has gradually evolved.
As such we’re all ears and will try out anything new. We said recently that we’ve moved towards doing refurbs which are more on trend since you really maximise your rent by making a home as stunning as possible (for as little as possible). This can involve different colour schemes for your decor or other types of flooring.
That’s why Chris below, got all excited about the new types of vinyl when they arrived…
