A couple of weeks ago I sent you an email about smoke alarms basically explaining your legal requirements. I won’t go over these again but I thought I’d share you a video of a recent fire damaged property we refurbished.

The property was totally gutted, smoke damage might not knock down your house but it destroys EVERYTHING. We had to refurbish it and it cost tens of thousands to do so.

Luckily for the landlord they had insurance but even more luckily for the landlord they had smoke alarms so their insurance was valid!

Insurance companies will normally stipulate that to pay out you need to meet statutory / legal requirements which includes the installation of smoke alarms.

We do this as standard, checking smoke alarms at inspections and move-in’s.

So if you’re thinking of skimping on a few pounds – think twice it might actually cost you thousands!!
