A happy new year, I hope you enjoyed your time off and feel fully recharged for the year ahead. The question is โ€“ what are we expecting this year? My top tips are:

  • Inflation continues to be a problem with it reaching 7% in the late spring / early summer.
  • Interest rates to rise slightly quicker than expected โ€“ people have been pencilling in a rise to 0.75% by the end of 2022, Iโ€™d expect that to be 1% or higher.
  • Rents and house prices to continue increasing at a slightly slower pace than the previous 2 years.
  • And hopefully for all of us, that Covid becomes a โ€œnew normalโ€ where we begin to deal with it as part of our way of life rather than from emergency to emergency.

Whatโ€™re your thoughts?

Also with a new year do you think weโ€™ll revert back to some of our old ways?

When developing properties we always try and protect them for the long term, a lot of the materials we use are either hardwearing or coloured to hide wear & tear / dirt. We usually use grey laminate but a landlord recently asked us to use an oak effect, what do you think?

Do you think itโ€™s time to go back to some of the older materials so they stand out more or stick to our tried and trusted solutions?

Itโ€™s a new year, is there a new way of doing things? Weโ€™d love to hear your thoughts since weโ€™re always striving to get the best and most cost effective finish and the best way to do this is by sharing ideas!
