I know it might be a bit early for this but look what I encountered recently!
It’s a property we’ve just taken over from a landlord – pretty disgusting isn’t it! I don’t fancy cleaning it? But how did the landlord find a tenant which treated their home like this?
All agents do vetting – checking for bad credit, landlord references, affordability etc. But how do you really find out how a tenants going to do treat your property?
Well we have two top tips!
1) Social Media – It’s amazing what people put on their facebook profile – not the state of their toilet! But if they have drug or alcohol problems? If they’re really the type of person you want to let to? So always check out facebook before renting to someone!
2) A Home Visit – On all housing benefit tenants we do a home visit to get all the relevant paperwork signed but we also have a sneeky look round. If their toilet looks something like this then they wouldn’t get through our vetting for obvious reasons!
So put social media and home visits in your vetting tool kit – to save you a disgusting job!
