If youโve got a property in the North-East youโll know that there are some tough areas that may require a little more protection from theft.
Iโve been a landlord for over 10 years, and touch wood havenโt had a break-in for over 5 years โ I really wish I hadnโt said that!
Thatโs mainly to do with us having a high occupancy rate, we tend to keep our properties in good order, so they let quickly which ultimately generates us more money.
If youโve ever been broken into, youโll understand how destructive it can be. Generally, thieves will target any copper to sell on, which means ripping out pipework, causing thousands of pounds of damage to earn a few hundred pounds.
Itโs incredibly moronic and annoying but how does that feel?
Pretty awful, then you have to navigate your insurance company, putting in a claim, getting some quotes and agreeing to a payout. While your property sits empty earning no money while you pay the interestโฆit sucks.
Unfortunately, we canโt magic these problems away and will certainly help with an insurance quote but prevention is always better than the cure.
