If you’ve got a property in the North-East you’ll know that there are some tough areas that may require a little more protection from theft.
I’ve been a landlord for over 10 years, and touch wood haven’t had a break-in for over 5 years – I really wish I hadn’t said that!
That’s mainly to do with us having a high occupancy rate, we tend to keep our properties in good order, so they let quickly which ultimately generates us more money.
If you’ve ever been broken into, you’ll understand how destructive it can be. Generally, thieves will target any copper to sell on, which means ripping out pipework, causing thousands of pounds of damage to earn a few hundred pounds.
It’s incredibly moronic and annoying but how does that feel?
Pretty awful, then you have to navigate your insurance company, putting in a claim, getting some quotes and agreeing to a payout. While your property sits empty earning no money while you pay the interest…it sucks.
Unfortunately, we can’t magic these problems away and will certainly help with an insurance quote but prevention is always better than the cure.
