In all honesty, I haven’t got a clue!

Personally, I’ve been investing in crypto currencies since 2017, a little bit because of FOMO (fear of missing out) but also to try and keep an eye on an asset class which is new. In that time I’ve seen my investments multiply in value by x50 but I’ve also seen them decrease by 80%. It’s incredibly volatile…

You may have heard of bitcoin, maybe even Ether but there are literally 1000’s of crypto currencies you can invest in, many of which will prove worthless.

At NGU we’re all about creating wealth but nothing we do, we don’t do ourselves. So we decided to invest in a crypto called Helium. In no way are we promoting it, I don’t know the long term price but we thought it might be something which could earn our landlords a little bit of extra money and also diversify them into the crypto market…

We’ve started installing Helium boxes in 15 of our houses. The aim of Helium is to try and create a wireless network outside of the current wifi infrastructure. This is created by installing a Helium box in your home and receiving Helium for doing so. This scenario is perfect for rented properties.

We’re hoping this will earn us an extra £50-£100 a month from our properties, with the magic sauce being an explosion in the Helium price, which could provide 50x rewards.

Will this work? Like I say we’re currently trialling it, checking we have the correct locations, and antennas and also the boxes are generating enough income.
